Indian authorities are considering imposing curfew in the capital city of New Delhi, in order to prevent the crowd from gathering. The government in New Delhi was questioned by a Court on the measures taken to control the rising number of virus cases.
In recent times, the massive number of cases has overwhelmed the capital’s healthcare system and its resources. The authorities faced much criticism for not taking timely action to prevent the virus from spreading fast in the highly populous areas in the city.
The capital is recording the most number of cases among all the states in the country. In the last three weeks, the deaths reported from New Delhi averaged at 100 per day.
India is currently second in the list of cases, behind the staggering numbers reported from the US. The oncoming winter season will see a steep increase in the number of cases in the crowded areas in the city.
Delhi authorities are now mulling introducing curfew during nighttime, in an attempt to curb the rising number of cases.
