There are several things you should not do during the Coronavirus outbreak. These things will determine whether you will become a victim of this fatal virus or not. Already, more than 45 million people have contracted the virus. And, close to 1.2 million have died. Yet, there are many things that we still do that we should not be doing.
Do not go into crowded places
Coronavirus is highly contagious. It can jump from one person to another through the air, by touch and through mucus or saliva particles. In crowded places, people are cramped together. Even if you take precautions such as washing hands and wearing a mask, if you are in too close proximity to an infected person, there is a high possibility that you will catch it too.
Therefore, until the pandemic dissipates or a vaccine is in the market, the best thing to do is to avoid crowded places as much as possible.
Crowded places include public transport, workplaces, markets, groceries, public parks, theatres and anywhere else where there is a large crowd of people in a small area. This is one of the many things you should not do during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Wear a mask
You must always wear a mask if you’re going out. The mask protects you as well as the others. If you are already infected, the mask protects the others. And, if you encounter an infected person then you are protected too.
However, a simple cloth mask is not going to protect you from a viral infection. According to medical professionals, only a surgical mask or a medically certified mask can guarantee protection from the coronavirus.
We must also make sure to wear the mask properly. Cutting out holes in the mask where your nose and mouth clearly defeats the purpose of wearing a mask. Some wear the mask over the mouth but the nose is not covered. We breathe through our noses. Therefore, the coronavirus can easily enter our bodies through our noses.
Some even wear the mask over their chins. And, some pull their mask down when talking to people. Both these actions can jeopardize your health and increases your chances of contracting the coronavirus.
Other things you should not do during the Coronavirus outbreak includes not touching your face while out in public. According to WHO, the virus can live up to 28 days on hard surfaces. When we are outside we touch other surfaces.
Although we wash hands and sanitize them regularly, there is no telling where the virus might be hiding. And, if you accidentally touch a surface touched by an infected person, and you touch your face, the chances of the virus transferring into you is quite high.
Many things you should not do during the Coronavirus outbreak
There are a number of other things you should not do during the Coronavirus outbreak. They include taking alternative medicine just because someone suggests it, take antibiotics unnecessarily and believing everything you read on the internet. Always go for credible sources. And, double-check them for accuracy.
